Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 children from a poor family children that would be raised in the same household, figured out very early on how to conquer of difficulties through her vibrant and vivid imagination. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated TV show host in the late '60s, was looking for a girl to sing for his program. Parton was a part of the Grand Ole Opry 1969 after signing to RCA Records. But she resigned from the show in 1974, as her own songs like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were out-charting their collaborations. Parton recorded I Will Always Love You in honor of Wagoner following their split. The song reached the top of the charts at. First time, in 1974.
