Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and entrepreneur for more than twenty years. She is a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington, an independent liberal news outlet, is a television personality author, author and an philanthropist. Originating from Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England with her family at age 16. At Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. As the first non-English speaking student, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. As a conservative syndicated blogger, after graduating she became an influential voice for the Huffington Post. She was able to get several prominent contributors who posted their opinions about politics and culture. Arianna's celebrity status started in 2003, after she was a candidate for an independent for the California recall vote in order to replace then-Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of a Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. Her name was voted as the most Influential Women in Media in 2009 by Forbes in 2009, and was awarded 12th position on that list. In the same year Guardian included her in the 100 most influential media on their list. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her the president of their media company and also included several the other AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and management consultant Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. They were very close to her father. However, it was her bond with her mother that has shaped her. In her earliest period, she displayed leadership skills for which are still prominently known. She moved to England at 16, to pursue her education and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. In the years of her university, she belonged to Cambridge Union. Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first woman president, and also the only president from outside the country. In 1972, she earned an advanced degree in Economics. She worked as a critic television host, as well as a columnist following her graduation. In addition, she appeared alongside Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with the editorial services of Bernard Levin.
