The recipient of various accolades like an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award and the Primetime Emmy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards, she is regularly ranked as one of the highest-paid actors in the world. Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people around the globe in 2006 and 2015, and Forbes listed her as one of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women in 2019 and 2021. Forbes has named her the World's Richest Actress in 2021. Her net worth is estimated at $400 million. Witherspoon first appeared on screen in 1991 as an teen. In 1999, she was an actress who played a supporting role in Cruel Intentions as well as in the role of Tracy Flick in Election. Her parts in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) and Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) led to her being recognized more widely. In 2005 she won notoriety and the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. She is a part of the Children's Defense Fund's board and was named Global Ambassador for Avon Products in 2007. In this capacity, she also acts as chair honorary of Avon Foundation's charitable foundation dedicated to women's issues.
